SERVICE RENDERED

Prenatal Breastfeeding Consult

(This service entailed a home visit for a one-to-one consultation, plus a week of ongoing breastfeeding support via WhatsApp—all delivered locally in Singapore to support both parents.)

MUM WAS FEELING UNSURE ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT WITH BREASTFEEDING AND DIDN’T WANT TO GO IN UNPREPARED.

She’d heard different stories from family and friends and wanted to feel more confident before her baby arrived. Pain and latching difficulties were her biggest concerns.

With encouragement from her sister (who was still breastfeeding at the time), she booked a prenatal breastfeeding consultation to better understand what breastfeeding might actually be like.

WHAT DID OUR WORK LOOK LIKE

During our 1:1 90-minute prenatal breastfeeding consultation, we covered the key things she wanted to know:

  • How breastfeeding works in the early days

  • What common breastfeeding challenges might come up

  • How to know if baby is getting enough

  • What pain means and when to seek early breastfeeding support

  • What to expect in terms of feeds, nappies, and supply

A mix of visual aids, printed handouts, open discussion, and a breastfeeding demonstration doll was used to bring the information to life.

The focus of our prenatal breastfeeding session was on building practical tools and confidence so she would know what to look for, how to respond to her baby’s cues, and when to seek breastfeeding help early.

RESULTS

A few days after her baby was born, she got in touch again.

She was experiencing pain during feeding and remembered what we’d discussed: pain isn’t something to just push through.

Because she had prepped early, she didn’t wait. She had a clearer sense of what “normal” might look like, and when something felt off, she reached out for breastfeeding support.

We were able to make early adjustments that improved her comfort and confidence with breastfeeding.

She shared:

“Knowing how to latch and adjust helped — and patience.”

“Mentally, I was more prepared… it helped manage my expectations.”

And baby’s weight reflected that steady progress:

2.854 kg → 2.930 kg → 3.010 kg

WHAT STOOD OUT FOR ME

What made me so happy about this mum was how her prenatal prep made such a difference — not by making everything perfect (because let’s be real, breastfeeding can get messy!) — but by giving her a clearer idea of what to expect.

Once she had that knowledge and knew what to look out for, she also found the confidence to ask for help early. She leaned into her instincts and reached out when something felt off.

And seeing her take that step felt like such a win for both of us!
