About the heart behind
Joy Lactation
My name is Liying — I’m an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), a Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) practitioner, and a former social worker. This is me and my little family.
Not too long ago, I was a new mum too — trying to figure out why something that’s “natural” could feel so incredibly hard.
I remember feeling vulnerable. Overwhelmed. Like I was the only one who couldn’t get it “right.”
And maybe what I needed back then wasn’t more advice — but support that actually saw me.
Why I Do What I Do
Before I became a lactation consultant, I spent years supporting families as a social worker.
I saw what happens when emotional needs go unmet — and how deeply early parenting shapes a family’s foundation and long-term relationships.
I’m here to walk with you as you discover what works best for your body, your baby, and your family.

My Philosophy
(so you’ll know if we’re a good fit to work together)
Breastfeeding is not just a technique — it’s a relationship.
Your mental and emotional wellbeing matters just as much as your supply.
You already have what it takes — you just need someone to guide you back to your own confidence.
& In case you’re curious what Neuroprotective Developmental Care is & why place so much emphasis on it
I’m proud to be Singapore’s only trained practitioner in Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC), also known as the Possums Programs.
NDC is a science-backed framework that helps families understand how infant feeding, sleep, sensory needs, and emotional development are all interconnected — not separate issues to “fix” in isolation.
NDC supports:
Your baby’s development through responsive care
Empowering you as the expert of your baby with evidence-based information
Your mental and emotional wellbeing as a parent
What this means for you:
You’ll receive holistic support that covers more than just latch issues. We’ll look at how feeding, sleep, and your baby’s needs tie together — and how it all impacts you, too.
This way, you’ll feel more supported, confident, and equipped to respond to your baby.
